Flatline Knives in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho is a small custom knife manufacturer specializing in Damascus blades. Its owner, Andrew, hired Summit Studios to create a short promo for his new YouTube channel. The video takes Flatline’s visitors on a fiery, pounding journey through Andrew’s process. The video itself is only 120 seconds but took much longer than expected to shoot. There were wait times between each step of forming one of these incredible knives; however, this supplied ample time to set up angles and create the best lighting. Several shots had to be completed quickly before the blade cooled and ruined the build! Summit’s goals for this video were to:
Sound is 50% of the viewers experience. As the video progresses you hear a heartbeat that begins faintly and then gets louder as it gets faster. Then the heartbeat morphs into a flatline sound followed by the logo appearing and the video ends.
